Frank's Freedom

Meet Frank. He’s 13 years old, and is curious, busy, fun happy and bright. He has a mental delay, but that doesn’t stop him from being friendly, engaging and kind. He’s also an orphan in Eastern Europe. This means he is in an institution. If he is not adopted by age 16, he will be thrown out on the street with nothing but the clothes on his back and his “disabled orphan” status. Let me tell you more about Frank.

He’s little, about the size of a 7 year old. And he’s smart. He is in a group with teenage boys ages 16-24. He does puzzles and he does his chores diligently. He is very kind to the younger children. Frank is friendly and engaging. He likes being with the boys, but is happy being alone too. He plays appropriately with toys and is “all boy”. He could very easily function in a family. Frank is curious, smart, fun and sweet. He likes to play in the dirt and jump on the trampoline. Frank is independent, a good eater, is happy and content. Frank is physically healthy. He walks, runs, feeds himself, speaks, does puzzles and interacts with others well. He's a sweet boy who seems rather unaffected by his surroundings. He has no future where he's at, and without help, he's never getting out. Institutions are a one way ticket to nowhere. And this little boy deserves a future. This little boy will be a blessing to any family.

The Baker family has committed to adopt Frank and another boy, Emmitt. But international adoption is pretty expensive. The adoption would cost about $30,000. Reece’s Rainbow is an organization that helps with this cost. They set up grants for children in 25 countries around the world, and any money that is donated to these funds is given to the families to help with adoption fees. With Reece's Rainbow's help, the Baker family only needs about $10,000 to bring home both boys!

Artem

Date of Birth : March 2003
Gender : Male
Eyes: Brown
Hair: brown
Character: active, sociable

From a missionary who visited with him recently: " Artyem is blind. He was born in March 2003. He is a very social boy and my name reminded him of some poem/song so he started singing it over and over to me. He likes to be held and a lot of contact. He gave me the impression of being smart as he felt my entire face, nose, ears, hair, everything to try to get a picture of what I looked like. I think he would learn English really fast. We were trying to color these things we were putting together (and even though he couldn't see it I was trying to help him so it just wouldn't be blank when put up with the other kids). He didn't want to color it but just put it together and I said you need to color it first. He started repeating in English to me over and over…..you need to color it first, you need to color it first."

$38.04 is available towards the cost of my adoption!

Artem sounds so sweet! And He's eight, almost nine years old! Artem, unlike the others, has only about a 7% chance of adoption, because being blind seems like the "worst" disability to most people. Help him find a family!

This is Artem's letter to a Papa, written by me

Dear Papa,
I heard the craziness today. Was it you? My friends say it was a papa coming for one of the babies. I wish it was you.
I heard the craziness again. Is that you? My friends say it was the same papa, coming for another baby.
I really do want a mama papa. I am happy for those babies, but don't you want a boy of four? I promise I will be good!
I know that I am not a baby anymore, I am almost seven. I guess no one wants a boy of six. Wait, my friend just said you came for an older boy! Is it me? Oh, it's not. You picked a younger boy.
I need to tell you something Papa. I am blind. Is that why you won't adopt me? I can't see, but I learn English really fast! I promise to be a good boy if you adopt me. Well, I might be bad, but I'll try not to. I am really smart, and just because I can't use my eyes, it doesn't mean I can't see you with my hands. That's why I have them, right? I love to talk with my friends, and the visitors are cool! I like singing, i have lots of songs memorized! If you come get me, I'll sing them for you!
Please Papa. I'm scared. I heard that I'm gonna get transferred soon. The only other place I ever want to go is home with you! I love you already!

Sasha

BOY, born March 8, 2005

I LOST MY FAMILY!!!

Sasha is just darling…handsome, happy, active, and smart! He was born with a minor VSD (heart condition). Some of his facial features may indicate FAS, but this is not documented and is only a cautionary disclosure so families are prepared. It is just as possible that he does NOT have FAS.
If you are unfamiliar with FAS, please spend some time researching this condition. Just as with Down syndrome, FAS and FAE have a wide variation of effects on each child, both medically, physically, and cognitively. This is typically dependent on how long during the pregnancy the mother consumed alcohol, and of course, how much. There is no way to know this ahead of time.

Sasha has already been transferred to the older child internat. He can be adopted with NIKO.

Sasha also has a grant available through Project Hopeful.

$0.00 is available towards the cost of my adoption!

Sasha's Prayer to the Lord

Father God, the caregivers tell me you are our Father and we can pray to you. They say that you are always there to listen and that you love us so much. Father, I really don’t know what its like to have a father. I don’t know what its like to have a mother too.
But watching television, I can see how fathers take good care of their children, how they embrace them, how they enjoy playing with them. The other day I also saw that a child also runs to his father when bad kids try to bully him. The father sent the bad kids away and the child was carried safely in his arms. Maybe it would be wonderful if I can have a father who can carry me like that in his arms. I would be able to see more things. I would be taller than the other kids! I would surely feel very special being carried off like that.

The caregivers here are kind, but they don’t carry me like that and their shoulders are not so broad and strong. And they attend to all of us kids, they never made me feel so special. That’s why I'm asking you Lord, can you give me my own father here on earth? Can I have someone who will love me and carry me in his strong shoulders? I don’t want toys anymore Lord.

I just want a father. And a mother too. The caregivers say that tomorrow, a father and a mother will visit here to pick out one of us to be their own child. I pray Lord that they would pick me though I'm afraid I might not be the one they will choose. I heart they want a handsome kid or one who’s really talented. I'm not so handsome Lord and I don’t even know how to sing. But I can embrace them like the kids I saw in tv. I can help in cleaning their house. I can kisss them when they arrive home from work and then I would bring their slippers.

Won’t you grant my prayers O God? Will you help me? I believe that you are a Good Father as the caregivers told me and I really thank you for hearing me out. Maybe I should sleep now so I won’t be so sleepy when my father and mother picks me up tomorrow.

Patrick

Boy, Born October 11, 2003
Patrick is a sweet and able boy who is diagnosed with CP. He does have significant facial features of FAS, although this is not documented in his medical records. Patrick is able to walk and play on his own, and is very high functioning. He is the best friend of MICHAELA. Although they can not be adopted together, they both strongly desire a family of their own and are high encough functioning cognitively to recognize and fear the next transfer.

From our coordinator: Patrick is the very best friend of Michaela. They spend all the time together: playing together, helping each other. He is a smart, inquisitive, very friendly and kind boy. His dream is to have a family and loving parents. He knows he is facing a transfer to an institution for disabled children of older age, where he will not have a chance to develop his potential. The orphanage staff advocates for these two children with all their hearts.

From a family who met him in July 2011: He has strabismus and cerebral palsy. But, as you know, cerebral palsy is a spectrum disorder. He can walk, talk, and play just fine. When he walked, there was a slight halting to each step, but it did not slow him down one bit!! When he came up to us, he looked in my bag and saw "Chutes and Ladders." He kept pulling at it, and then he opened the game board and let out a squeal of delight. Then he went in my bag to find the pieces. I could tell he really wanted to play the board game, but we were in the hallway and there was no room, so I pulled out the box of playdoh. He managed to pull out one of the containers and open it himself (which is difficult for an adult to do!) I showed him how to work the playdoh, and he was so happy. He was able to play and shape playdoh just fine. He was so creative with the playdoh. I helped him make a duck from the stencil and then he pretended it was swimming through the air. He was telling a whole story about this pink duck in his language. I gave (our daughter) the camera, and they kept taking pictures of each other. He kept making funny faces for most of the pictures. When he was done playing with one thing, he carefully put it back where it came from. When it was time to go, he just said "bye-bye" and left. No fits or anything. Such a happy boy. He might not be the most active child, but I am confident he would be a great child for any family.

Patrick is a very handsome young 8 year old boy. I am seeing if I can find the blog of the family that met with him.

This is Patrick's life as a lost boy. It will continue this way untill someone saves him. Please do!

Life is so free, yet so restricted,
From all happiness I am evicted.

The earth is so full, yet so much more empty,
I sit in silence as all eyes watch me.

The world plays together, yet I am so alone,
We all have shelter but I have no home.
Everyone is cared for, yet I am so neglected,
They make fun of me, no sadness is detected.

Everyone is happy, yet I am so sad,
I wonder why they treat me so bad.
We are all well educated, yet I go to no school,
They are mean because they think it is cool.

Everyone is eating, yet I have no food,
I know they laugh, but why be so rude,
Everyone matters, yet I am called names,
They will call me a tramp, I know, they are all the same,

They hit me, hurt me, yet I feel no pain,
I know tomorrow they will do it again.
Outside on sunny days they'll drink their sugared tea,
But no one knows that the sun will never shine for me.

Alexander

Boy, born April

Eyes: Brown

Hair: blond

Character: active, sociable

From a missionary who visited with him: "I would say his personality seemed happy, cheerful and sociable from the little contact I had with him. I did send an email to my friends that worked with his group to get their opinion since they spent several hours with him for a week. I know he has a brain tumor that is supposedly treatable in the U.S., but the treatment is expected to be lengthy. He has been treated some in Russia and was in the hospital in the spring for more treatment. He’s a very lovable kid and very smart. He remembers people and things that they say and he is very in tune with how sick he is. He understands and comprehends a lot for his age. He loves to dance and get one on one attention (what kid doesn’t?) He’s sensitive and his feelings get hurt easily. Alex is concerned about others. He always asks how you or someone in the group is doing. He is very outgoing, not shy at all. He loves to sing songs and recite poems for you, and he knows so many! Alex loves individual attention. You are special to him and he wants to feel that he is special to you also. Simply put, he is a loving little boy who is such a pleasure to spend time with. One more thing: I have lots of pictures of Alex and some videos of him singing and reciting poems. It would be SO WONDERFUL if he could get adopted and get proper treatment in the USA. Please contact Amy for more information

$0.00 is available towards the cost of my adoption!

Alex is now eight years old. He is fighting a brain tumor, and needs a family so he can get the treatment he needs! Here is his Reece's Rainbow Page!

Alex's Hope, please make it a reality!
Each night before I go to bed
I fold my hands and bow my head
Praying for a family and the day she will come for me
I ask God to watch over my friends at the orphanage,
The place that I call home
Wishing we find families and rooms of our very own.
I finish my prayers and climb into bed
Hoping that God heard what I said.
My prayers usually turn out to be my dreams at night
Hoping she will be standing there when I wake to the morning light.
One very special morning, I will hear their call,
I jump out of bed and run down the hall!
Is it her, Is it her, is that why they’ve called my name?
Running I hear them shout “It’s her, it’s her, she finally came!”
Have all my prayers been answered, have all my dreams come true
There she is in front of me, Oh Mama! Oh Mama!! Is it really you?

“Yes, it is my darling, I’ve come to take you home,”
“I will love, protect and cherish and you will never be alone.“
Mama looks at me so differently a look so new to me,
She touches me so gently, just as I dreamed it would be.
As I look into her eyes I watch them fill with water,
She embraces me and whispers, “I love you so my son”.
She takes my hand and I hold it tight,
I will never let it go, I hold with all my might.
Hand in hand we walk together,
No one needs to speak; we know this is forever.
And through our journey when we finally meet each other,
She will have found her dream and I will have found my mother. By~ Nancy Kaywork
