Frank's Freedom

Meet Frank. He’s 13 years old, and is curious, busy, fun happy and bright. He has a mental delay, but that doesn’t stop him from being friendly, engaging and kind. He’s also an orphan in Eastern Europe. This means he is in an institution. If he is not adopted by age 16, he will be thrown out on the street with nothing but the clothes on his back and his “disabled orphan” status. Let me tell you more about Frank.

He’s little, about the size of a 7 year old. And he’s smart. He is in a group with teenage boys ages 16-24. He does puzzles and he does his chores diligently. He is very kind to the younger children. Frank is friendly and engaging. He likes being with the boys, but is happy being alone too. He plays appropriately with toys and is “all boy”. He could very easily function in a family. Frank is curious, smart, fun and sweet. He likes to play in the dirt and jump on the trampoline. Frank is independent, a good eater, is happy and content. Frank is physically healthy. He walks, runs, feeds himself, speaks, does puzzles and interacts with others well. He's a sweet boy who seems rather unaffected by his surroundings. He has no future where he's at, and without help, he's never getting out. Institutions are a one way ticket to nowhere. And this little boy deserves a future. This little boy will be a blessing to any family.

The Baker family has committed to adopt Frank and another boy, Emmitt. But international adoption is pretty expensive. The adoption would cost about $30,000. Reece’s Rainbow is an organization that helps with this cost. They set up grants for children in 25 countries around the world, and any money that is donated to these funds is given to the families to help with adoption fees. With Reece's Rainbow's help, the Baker family only needs about $10,000 to bring home both boys!

Another Prince and Princess

I've now decided to sponsor three children, one from 25 and two from 1. Here are the newest Prince and Princess!

If you didn't know, 1 is a mental institution. The worst one. More on that is coming.
On top is Dmitriy. He is 5 years old, will turn 6 on December 26. He is blind (only has one eye, and it is blind). This picture is already old, from October 2009. I have another picture of each of them.
And right above is Victoria. She is already eight years old, and will turn 9 on December 12. She has arthrogryposis. It is so sad that a boy has longer hair than her, but this picture is a year old, maybe in the next picture she will have long hair.
I'm going to be sposoring all three, fighting for their lives.

An older picture of Victoria, where you can see how arthrogryposis has affected her legs and feet.

A 'baby' picture of Dmitriy.

One Year

One year ago today, I posted this, a desperate plea for Sullivan's family. The next day, I found out he was getting adopted. I never would have imagined that Sam (his new name) would be home in only a year. It's fantastic.
One year ago, he was lonely, and had no idea that somewhere in America, a family was praying that adopting him was right.
One year, he is home.
One year, he is no longer an orphan
One year, he knows that someone loves him
One year, no more birthday's gone forgotten.
One year.
What has happened in your life in One Year?

At our summer camp, we watched this video. It is a video called "One Year", made by the Nations Foundation. Our college pastor is mentioned in the end, so when we all saw his name come up, we cheered. It's a great movie, and features many olympic snowboarders like Andy Finch and Tommy Czechin (I said these two because for any 'Amazing Race' fans out there, this season, they are on it. They are the snowboarders and have come in 1st the last three weeks, just thought I'd throw that out there).
God can do a lot in one year.
Watch the video, and what has happened this year? What will happen in one year?

Answered Prayers
Spud and I have wanted to go on a mission trip to Ukraine to tell kids
about JESUS and to love orphans. We first thought Boyarka, but they
are babies. Then an older child internat, butwe didnt know where in
ukraine there was one. Then i said we should go to roj like the reeds,
christine could help us. But we never really asked. God just answered
our prayers about where to go. C. Reed just posted about a mission
opportunity at River Of Joy (www.riverofjoy-crimea.com) for two weeks
next june.
This is unbelievably amazing. We have been praying about where to go,
how to go. There it is in black and white. An offer to go and serve at
ROJ next summer. This is with an organization. Its planned. Im
freaking out this so amazing, i dont think spud understandz that THIS
IS THE ANSWER TO OUR PRAYERS! God really does answer prayers. Thank
you, Jesus!

Have you ever had a line, a stanza or even a song that has just 'spoken' to you? I have one, it is a line from Steven Curtis Chapman's new song, "Do Everything". Here are the lyrics.

Oh, oh, oh

You're picking up toys on the living room floor
For the fifteenth time today
Matching up socks and sweeping up lost Cheerios that got away
You put a baby on your hip and color on your lips
And head out the door

And while I may not know you I bet I know you
Wonder sometimes does it matter at all
Well let me remind you it all matters just as long

As you do everything you do to the glory of the One who made you
Cause He made you To do
Every little thing that you do to bring a smile to His face
And tell the story of grace
With every move that you make
And every little thing you do

Oh, oh, oh

Maybe you're that guy with the suit and tie
Maybe your shirt says your name
You may be hooking up mergers, cooking up burgers
But at the end of the day

Little stuff big stuff in between stuff
God sees it all the same

And while I may not know you I bet I know you
Wonder sometimes does it matter at all
Well let me remind you it all matters just as long

As you do everything you do to the glory of the One who made you
Cause He made you
To do Every little thing that you do to bring a smile to His face
And tell the story of grace With every move that you make
And every thing that you do

Well maybe you're sitting in math class
Or maybe you're on a mission in the Congo
Maybe you're working at the office
Singing along with the radio

Maybe you're dining at a five star
Or feeding orphans in Myanmar
Anywhere and everywhere you are
Whatever you do

It all matters

So do what you do

Don't ever forget

To do Everything you do to the glory of the One who made you
Cause He made you
To do Every little thing that you do to bring a smile to His face
And tell the story of grace
As you do

Everything you do to the glory of the One who made you
Cause He made you
To do

Every little thing that you do to bring a smile to His face
And tell the story of grace
With every move that you make
And every little thing you do

Oh, oh, oh

And every little thing you do

The line that just, touches me when I hear it is the second line of the the eighth section. It's the beginning of the bridge, where it goes (first line) "Well, maybe you're sitting in math class, (second line, the one that speaks to me, I don't know why) Maybe you're on mission in the Congo"
I think it's a sign that Spud and I are meant to go to Ukraine, I just know it. Please be praying for us.

143 million

143 million is a HUGE number! It's the number of people living in the 50 largest us cities combined! It seems like a logical guess as to how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop (I tried once when I was little, I got to a million and wasn't even close) anyways... What about orphans? Ya, there's more than 143 million orphans in the world today, and that number is growing daily! Idc how you help whether it's prayer to financial giving to bringing home a child of your own, as long as you help an orphan in need. This is an unacceptable number of fatherless kids without a roof over their head. The God of the Universe weeps for his children. I cry when I think about this number for too long. One of these days there's gonna be no more orphans crying for a mom and dad to bring them home. I am so excited for that day! God works in miraculous ways! Noel, Sergey, and 2 others that I don't think tink has told you about yet need your help, desperately! You're their only hope! Help these kids, they need your help! If you're not sure where to start, contact one of us for suggestions! Wed be more than happy to help you! As I said before, God works in miraculous ways! Agapé!
