Frank's Freedom

Meet Frank. He’s 13 years old, and is curious, busy, fun happy and bright. He has a mental delay, but that doesn’t stop him from being friendly, engaging and kind. He’s also an orphan in Eastern Europe. This means he is in an institution. If he is not adopted by age 16, he will be thrown out on the street with nothing but the clothes on his back and his “disabled orphan” status. Let me tell you more about Frank.

He’s little, about the size of a 7 year old. And he’s smart. He is in a group with teenage boys ages 16-24. He does puzzles and he does his chores diligently. He is very kind to the younger children. Frank is friendly and engaging. He likes being with the boys, but is happy being alone too. He plays appropriately with toys and is “all boy”. He could very easily function in a family. Frank is curious, smart, fun and sweet. He likes to play in the dirt and jump on the trampoline. Frank is independent, a good eater, is happy and content. Frank is physically healthy. He walks, runs, feeds himself, speaks, does puzzles and interacts with others well. He's a sweet boy who seems rather unaffected by his surroundings. He has no future where he's at, and without help, he's never getting out. Institutions are a one way ticket to nowhere. And this little boy deserves a future. This little boy will be a blessing to any family.

The Baker family has committed to adopt Frank and another boy, Emmitt. But international adoption is pretty expensive. The adoption would cost about $30,000. Reece’s Rainbow is an organization that helps with this cost. They set up grants for children in 25 countries around the world, and any money that is donated to these funds is given to the families to help with adoption fees. With Reece's Rainbow's help, the Baker family only needs about $10,000 to bring home both boys!

this post has had 5 names, this is the one i settled on: DO SOMETHING!!!!!

I recently read a post on Caleb's was going to be mom's blog, that she wrote with facts about orphans world-wide, special needs and not. they were scary but interested me. so i'm not going to steal her words, i did some research for myself. I hope this doesnt sound to sermon-y, im just trying to get my point across.

To start off, do you know how many orphans there are around the world? try 147 million children. You read it right, 147 million children around the world are orphans and the number keeps getting larger. 147 million children internationally have no mom or dad, no brother or sister, no best friend to cry on or have sleepovers with. 147 million and more children world-wide don't have a guaruntee of  having another meal. 147 million children around the world sleep in a room full of kids in their same situation, many sharing mattresses. every 2 seconds, one of those 147 million children dies of MALNUTRITION. This is America, we eat WAAAY to much, while there are innocent children out there DYING from not having the opportunity of eating. Malnutrition plays a part in more than half of the child deaths worldwide. Even more often, malnutrition cripples children's growth, renders them susceptible to disease, dulls their intellects, and diminishes their motivation and their productivity. its sad. I'm not making these numbers up, im getting them from a legit site.
I have a medical condition that makes me so i cant walk long distances, but if I could, I seriously would walk
1,000 miles just to be with one of the 147 million world wide orphans. Princess Noel and Prince Sergey count for less than 1% of the world's orphans. over 2 Billion people world-wide call themselves Christians, so if only 3% of the christian population adopted ONE child, the Orphan crisis would be over! Are you part of that 3% that is willing to risk adoption, or are you that 97% that wants nothing to do with orphans. I, personally, am unable to adopt because I'm only a teenager, but i want to really badly! I have age holding me back, but you for sure can! 3% is all it takes! Don't let money stand in the way, if God wants you to adopt, which he does, he will give you the money. I don't know how, I don't know where, but the money will be in your hands.
“Do not take advantage of the widow or the fatherless. If you do and they cry out to me, I will certainly hear their cry. My anger will be aroused, and I will kill you with the sword." -God- Exodus 22:22-24a. In other words, to God, hearing an orphan cry is like being stabbed in the heart. If you don't care for the orphans, meaning either something small, like praying for the orphans, or something as big as adopting, God will not nessecarily kill you, although he can, but he will mess you up, cuz he's powerful enough to do that.

So, Will you be the 3% or 97%? i'll tell you right now that the 97% is a whole lot easier, but do you want ease over life-long joy? sounds kind of ridiculous to me. I'm gonna end my post with a challenge: DO SOMETHING!!!!!
